On the morning of 5 March, the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and Premier Li Qiang made a government work report to the General Assembly on behalf of the State Council. The students of the School of Marxism of NPU actively listened to watch the live broadcast, followed up the two sessions on the dynamics of the current affairs hotspots, discussed the two sessions, and talked about understanding.

PhD Candidate, Class of 2021, CPC Member, He Lijun:

Through watching the government work report made by Premier Li Qiang on behalf of the State Council to the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), I have learned about the results achieved by the government work in 2023, the requirements for China's economic and social development and policy orientation in 2024, and the tasks of the government work in 2024. With clear factual data, the report provides an effective vehicle for us to understand the national economy people's livelihood, and the state of the nation. In addition, the report's focus on issues such as healthcare, social security, education, employment, and the business environment is close to the people, enterprises, and the grassroots, reflecting the Party and the government's adherence to the people-centred work philosophy. In particular, references to improving the conditions of rural boarding schools and increasing policies to help college graduates find employment have truly seen the plight of the grassroots and youth, responded to the real concerns of the people, and boosted their confidence.

By following the two sessions, I have become more aware of the importance of contact and interaction between the Government and the public. Through dialogue with the public, the Government needs to gain a deeper understanding of livelihood issues and make policy adjustments accordingly. At the same time, the public should also actively participate in political activities and give their views and suggestions to the government. Only through close cooperation between the government and the people can we jointly promote the development and progress of the country. The two sessions have shown me the scientific and democratic nature of national governance and deepened my understanding of the country's development strategies and goals. In addition, the two sessions also play an important role in presenting the country's image. Through the two sessions, China can show the international community its political stability and rapid development. The mannerisms and interactions of the delegates are a reflection of the Chinese people. Through the National People's Congresses, the international community can learn about China's political system and social development, and thus have a more comprehensive view of China's national conditions. The two sessions provide an important platform for China's diplomatic exchanges and highlight China's important position in the international arena.

As an activist of Party application, I have closely followed the opening of the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the second session of the 14th National People's Congress. Through listening and watching the live broadcast of the opening session, I deeply felt the democracy and vigour of our political life. The key issues of concern to the two sessions, such as economic development, scientific and technological innovation, education reform and environmental protection, are not only related to the future development of the country but also closely related to the immediate interests of every citizen. Especially the discussions on scientific and technological innovation and education reform made me deeply realise that as a doctoral student, I should actively respond to the call of the state to devote myself to scientific research and education, and contribute to the promotion of China's scientific and technological progress and education modernization. The convening of the two sessions not only boosted my sense of national pride, but also inspired me to closely integrate my personal development with the needs of the country, and to contribute to the realisation of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Employment is a hot topic of concern at the National People's Congress, and I am deeply impressed by Premier Li Qiang's government work report, which stresses the need to strengthen employment promotion services for college graduates and other key groups. Facing graduation and employment, every graduate is under great pressure, and as a party branch secretary, I also feel a great responsibility. In the future, I will continue to study the spirit of the two sessions, constantly improve my ideological awareness and work level, focus on the employment of the party branch group of graduate party members, and actively provide services and assistance. Usually, we should focus on innovative work forms, explore the combination of employment counselling and the daily activities of the party branch, and contribute our personal power to smooth employment channels, establish employment awareness and enhance employment ability for the graduating class.

Based on the new starting point of the two sessions, the students of the School of Marxism will carry forward the "127" goal, set up a great ambition, understand the virtue, become a great talent, take on a great task, and continue to study solidly, pioneering and innovative. Actively improve political cultivation, constantly strengthen the understanding and knowledge of the party's line and policy, combined with their practical actions to implement the spirit of the two sessions, and strive to cooperate with the construction of a high-quality education system, to realise the Chinese dream at an early date.
