On the afternoon of June 10, Wang Jinsong, President of NPU, held an on-site office meeting and a seminar on the teaching of ideological and political courses at the School of Marxism.Leaders of NPU including Chen Jianyou, Yang Yixin, Yang Xiao and Wang Yubo, heads of relevant functional departments, members of the leading group of School of Marxism, representatives of teachers for ideological and political courses, and student representatives attended this meeting, which was presided over by Yang Yunxia, Dean of School of Marxism.

During this meeting, Wu Wenchuan, Party Secretary of School of Marxism, reported the overall situation of online teaching of ideological and political courses and the reform and innovation of these courses from the following four aspects: the ideological and political teaching during the epidemic, the ideological and political education during the epidemic, gains and losses, as well as the next step of work.

The teachers exchanged and discussed on three aspects, namely, “experience and harvest of online teaching”, “how to promote the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses in the next step”, and “how to better play the role of ‘value shaping’ in ideological and political courses”. They said that in order to do a good job in online teaching during the epidemic, they have carried out positive reform in teaching content, methods and resources, which has improved the quality and level of teaching, and accumulated valuable experience.Next, they would combine useful practices in online teaching with offline teaching, and continue to promote the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses.

The student representatives also shared their experience of online learning of ideological and political courses.They believed that in this semester’s online teaching, teachers’ innovative content and methods, as well as more in-depth exchange and interaction, have made the courses vivid, optimized their learning experience, and improved their learning effect.Everyone was deeply moved by the dedication and professional attitude of their teachers. Meanwhile, they also put forward opinions and suggestions for the improvement of ideological and political courses.

Yang Yixin expressed his gratitude to all the teachers for their hard work in ideological and political education during the epidemic.Chen Jianyou said that during the epidemic, teachers of ideological and political courses have actively prepared lessons and devoted themselves to teaching, which was very moving.

In his concluding speech, Wang Jinsong pointed out that on March 18 last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping referred to the ideological and political theory course as a “key course” and an “irreplaceable course” at theForum for Teachers of Ideological and Political Theory Course, and made a precise positioning of this course, which further clarified the important position of this course for colleges and universities.He stressed that we must pay attention to top-level design, fully understand the important position of ideological and political course in the process of talent training, and insist on improving this course from the perspective of strategic planning for career development of NPU. In addition, we should also focus on value guidance, reform and innovation, and the exertion of synergy effect. Furthermore, Wang Jinsong pointed out that it was necessary to form a joint work force and establish a work pattern in which all leaders and departments could perform their own duties, undertake their own responsibilities, cooperate with each other, and work together.In conclusion, efforts should be made in the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses, and in the construction of teaching staff for this course.
